Follow one real ECG through seven steps:
Quality → Rate → Rhythm → Axis → Intervals → Waveforms → Final interpretation.

For medical students, residents and other healthcare learners, this Medical Rounds lesson connects the tracing with the electrical activity behind it. Explanatory visuals show why the waves and segments look the way they do, then bring you back to the same ECG to apply each concept.

You will learn to:
Check recording quality, calibration, electrode placement and filters.
Assess rate and normal sinus rhythm, then determine the frontal QRS axis.

Measure ECG intervals: the PR interval, QRS duration and QT interval, with QTc correction and its limitations.
Examine P waves, QRS morphology, R wave progression, the ST segment and T wave polarity.
Consider normal variation in context and give a concise final interpretation.

The lecture ends with a complete read of the same tracing. A seven-step checklist and normal-ECG reference sheet support continued practice. This builds a foundation for recognizing abnormal findings; a normal ECG does not exclude every important cardiac condition.

When we understand the why, we improve the how.
